About Dr. Owens
Meet Dr. Owens: A Legacy of Excellence in Ear Care
Following in the footsteps of his father, Dr. Fred D. Owens, Dr. Owens has dedicated his career to the specialized field of otology and neurotology. After completing his residency in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at West Virginia University Hospitals, he was selected for a competitive two-year fellowship at the renowned House Ear Clinic in Los Angeles.
During his fellowship, Dr. Owens performed hundreds of advanced ear surgeries under the guidance of some of the nation's leading ear surgeons. In 1999, he returned to Dallas to join his father in practice—continuing a family tradition of delivering expert care for complex ear conditions to patients across North Texas.
With over 25 years of experience, Dr. Owens has treated thousands of patients and performs more than 700 ear surgeries each year. His practice is exclusively focused on disorders of the ear, including hearing loss, balance issues, and chronic ear disease.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Owens is committed to advancing the field through education and innovation. He has trained over 340 ENT resident physicians in specialized ear surgery techniques through the Dallas Foundation of Otology. He also lectures regularly at the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and has served as a guest professor at international conferences in Mexico, Europe, and Latin America.
A respected contributor to medical research, Dr. Owens has published multiple scientific articles and collaborated with medical device companies to develop advanced hearing prostheses. He currently serves on the boards of the Hearing School of the Southwest and the Dallas Foundation of Otology, and he is a past president of the Texas Academy of Otolaryngology.
Dr. Owens is deeply committed to providing expert, compassionate care for patients with hearing and balance disorders—delivering both experience and innovation in every treatment.
