Pre-admission testing

Pre-admission testing is generally completed prior to your scheduled procedure or hospital admission. Pre-admission tests may be done two to three weeks prior to your surgery or scheduled admission. You will receive separate phone calls from our nurse to provide you with presurgical instructions and request information about your past medical history and current medications.

Although your physician selects which tests are to be done, routine pre-admission testing often includes:

  • EKG.
  • Laboratory blood work.
  • Chest x-ray.

For most tests, there is little or no preparation required. On the day of your tests, you may eat regular meals and take your regular medications unless otherwise instructed by your physician. Please drink some fluids before your appointment so that we may obtain a urine sample. Depending on the tests ordered, please expect to be with us for two to three hours.

Pre-admission testing hours: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
