The Methodist Hospital for Surgery's Center for Wound Care & Hyperbarics is designed to serve those patients needing specialized attention for wound conditions. Our team of physicians, nurses and technicians design treatment plans individualized to each patient's needs considering their age, mobility and co-existing conditions to achieve the best results in the shortest time. Hyperbaric treatments are often part of the treatment plan for their ability to accelerate the healing process.
The Center is made up of a team of professionals, including:
- Physicians with advanced training in wound management and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
- Nursing staff trained in the care of chronic wounds.
- Technicians who perform non-invasive studies and various therapies.
- Staff to assist with appointments, medical records and health insurance processing.

Shannon Payseur, MD, MPH, completed her medical degree at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN, and her residency at Methodist Hospitals of Dallas. She did her undergraduate studies at Xavier University of New Orleans and post-graduate work at Tulane University in New Orleans, where she earned a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in nutrition. Dr. Payseur is board-certified in Hyperbaric Medicine and Family Medicine and is fluent in Spanish.
